Sudden Death November 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Reid Clark is a tempermental man, who plays golf in the PGA, and might I add that he is "the best out there." He has caused many enemies, but that isn't all. People want to kill him due to his temper tantrums and he has to play knowing that it may kill him due to the death threats he has received. He is so sure of himself off and on the golf course with the ladies. Other players and business associates resent his temper. Known as the "Bad Boy" his threat is to: Never win another golf tournament.
Will he stop playing? You must read to find out.
This novel could be a wonderful movie. There is suspense and mystery and a lot of egotistic mannerisms. Great read! Oh, and read the reviews from other top authors. Quite impressive!
A great read! Even if you're not a master of the game! November 10, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Michael Balkind's "Sudden Death" is a great read, even if you are not a master of the game. I never would have thought that I would enjoy unraveling the mystery of golf while unraveling a mystery in a book. And believe me, I enjoyed all of it - A very, enjoyable quick read.
Sudden Death will keep you guessing right up until the exciting end!

Stalker Tees Off November 9, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Reid Clark, bad boy pro golfer, gets a multimillion dollar endorsement and decides to clean up his act and reconnect with his family. But now a killer is stalking him, threatening to kill him if he wins his next tournament. Reid isn't one to give up. But the pressure mounts as even with the help of the police his large team of bodyguards can't seem to locate the killer. Michael Balkind had done a good job on his debut novel. I think the book would have been stronger if the killer had been part of the story rather than existing only as a background character who never makes an entrance other than in a description to Reid after he is captured. Still, Sudden Death is an enjoyable read. The descriptions of tournament play put the reader right out on the course.
Golf Thriller! November 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Michael Balkind's `Sudden Death' is a gripping thriller about a top pro golfer being stalked by a killer while on the PGA tour. This well written story provides an insightful look into the intense and challenging world of professional sports while presenting interesting characters and a suspense filled plot that will satisfy the non-golfer. I hear that this is the first in a series of sports thrillers by Mr. Balkind. I look forward to the next in the series!
Couldn't put it down! November 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If, as Mark Twain suggested, that golf is a good walk spoiled - then Michael Balkind's Sudden Death is pulp marred by ink!
Of course neither is true. Instead, golf, as Bob Ryan wrote, is a romance with trees, sand, grass and water.
And likewise, Sudden Death is a wonderful, thoughtful who-dun-it mystery wrapped in golf adornments. The story builds and the tension tightens as the characters deepen into a well-woven story. I couldn't put it down and finished it on the day it arrived. Bravo, Mr. Balkind!
