Product Description
Faces of Sunset Boulevard: A Portrait of Los Angeles is a collection of photographs of the people who live, work, play, and shape Los Angeles. Some are making fortunes along the route; others are just trying to survive to see another day. Patrick Ecclesine captures the city’s dreams, dreamers, and, at times, nightmares using the most famous boulevard in the world as the setting for his photographs. The individuals featured range from the famous (Governor Schwarzenegger, Larry King, Fernando Valenzuela) to the unknown (a street vendor, an undocumented worker, a bus driver) to the unwanted (a homeless man, a single mother on welfare, a drug addict). Other archetypal Angeleno figures—from a television weathergirl sensation to a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon to surfers in Pacific Palisades to the eccentric and outlandish denizens of the Sunset Strip—stand side by side in these pages, capturing the eclectic nature of the City of Angels and its most colorful thoroughfare, Sunset Boulevard.

Well Worth The Wait! December 1, 2008 Familiar for several years with photographer Patrick Ecclesine's "Faces of Sunset Boulevard" project in its various exhibition and online incarnations, I was ecstatic when I learned that his stunning portraits were finally available -- and so beautifully presented -- in his new book.
More than just a master photographer, Ecclesine's captivating images tell more than the stories of his varied subjects, they also tell the story of the iconic street that ties them all together throughout the greater Los Angeles area they call home.
Over the course of some four years Ecclesine began with small street-corner shoots involving willing passersby, and that evolved into full-scale productions with elaborate lighting, street closures, and the occasional celebrity.
The result wonderfully captures the diversity and disparity that is Los Angeles. "Faces of Sunset Boulevard" would make a perfect gift for the angeleno who has everything or the non-native who wants greater insight into what this place is all about.
A Breathtaking Book!! November 23, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is a beautiful slice of LA History. Patrick's stunning portraits, of everyone from the Governor to the homeless, make his subjects leap from the pages while still portraying them for exactly who they are. It's fun and quirky at times, haunting at others and well worth the price. I highly recommend it!
