2 out of 5 stars NO MORE GOLF TALK!   January 6, 2008
This book was both entertaining AND annoying. If you love golf
and interracial romance then this is the book for you! I thought
the story line was far-fetched.. but who doesn't enjoy reading about
meddlesome family members! And jesus... so much golf talk. That was the
boring aspect of the book. So I give it two stars. Less golf, more love
and romance and I would have given it 3+ stars.

4 out of 5 stars Fore!!!   February 15, 2006

"Fore" is what a golfer shouts to let other players know they maybe in line with the flight of the golf ball and if they don't watch it they could get hit in the head. It's a warning!

While this book is well written and you really feel for both characters what you feel isn't necessarily sympathy. There were quite a few times I felt like banging the book on Perri, the heroine's, head for her stubborness and stupidity and tossing Beau's, her hero (and I say that loosely) golf clubs out the window for the same reasons. I couldn't help feeling even after the end that the next time the relationship hits a rocky road or is threatened by outside forces one or both characters would again be quick to call it quits.

This book has less to do with race and more to do with social class and the insecurities of two people. I commend the author for taking an IR and not making race the driving factor in the romance between the two. That being said this story reminds me of Wuthering Heights, both Heathcliff and Kathy were doomed from the beginning.

3 out of 5 stars entertaining read   September 1, 2005

Unlike some of the other reviewers, I liked the golf references. I can pretty much take or leave golf except during a major but I found the golf references interesting and the story was woven around the golf.

The reasons for them breaking up were weak and a little unrealistic. The fact that the characters were interracial (hispanic and white) was of little consequence during the story. It appeared that economic differences was a bigger factor.

I liked the story but I felt the author took a little too long to get to the main issue (the child) between the characters and their drama. That secret was dragged out way too long.

I gave this book three stars because I did not really feel the romance between the main characters. I felt like there was not enough passion shown between them in the present day. It was sometimes as though they were running on fond memories from eight years before not on renewed feelings. I really prefer some romance in my romance novels.

Regardless, it was an fun look at the life of a caddy and it made me feel like I was behind the scenes in the golf world. I cannot say whether the things that the author wrote about accurately portray the life of a golf caddy but they made for very entertaining reading.

5 out of 5 stars Good book   July 28, 2005

This was a good book. It was long, but never bored me. I am not a golf fan, but the sport was described in such a way that I understood the game and going ons. It made the book even more interesting. It was so romantic. I loved it.

4 out of 5 stars Great!   April 10, 2005
I was intrigued by this book. I enjoyed wondering what would happen next. I am a golf fan and liked that aspect of the book as well. Perri and Beau were a great couple. I thought that the book was well written and it kept me captivated. Well done.
