Product Description Plates and chargers can serve as more than just places to put your food: they can be glorious art to show off on a table, sideboard, or hutch. These 500 spectacular pieces chosen by esteemed juror Linda Arbuckle range from the utilitarian yet beautifully glazed plate to dramatically decorated work, and they're crafted from a remarkable variety of materials--including pristine porcelain and bold earthenware. Nick Joerling's stoneware is the perfect canvas for a design: vigorous brush strokes set in wax resist race across its attractive surface. Kelly McKibben's hand-built Going for a Stroll showcases delicately inlaid and silk-screened images. The stunning gallery provides a unique and wide-ranging snapshot of contemporary ceramic arts.

500 Plates & Chargers October 30, 2008 As with all of the "500" series books, this one was beautiful and, as a potter myself, I found it full of ideas and concepts. I love that these books are so varied in content. It makes the world of potters and pottery more intimate. Like having dozens of galleries at your fingertips.
Great talent and variety! October 28, 2008 Like another reviewer, I am a practicing artist and am also collecting this series from Lark. This book has a fabulous variety of plates. A great addition to the library of any artist, not just potters.
Beautiful Design Ideas October 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Wonderful photographs. VERY brief descriptions are given about the techniques used - so this is not a how-to book. However, it is rich in lovely design ideas and enjoyable to peruse.
Wide Ranging Look at Ceramic Plates October 6, 2008 I have 5 of the Lark 500 books now. I love being able to browse through the pages to get inspiration before I start potting. If you also need to ignite your imagination from time to time I suggest you buy it. If however you are a beginner and dont know how to work clay or use glazes this book is not for you.
Awesome book! August 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is wonderful! If looking for creative ideas, methodology, glazing suggestions, or just browsing the photos, this is the book for you! As someone who has just finished my own home studio, I found this book to be incredibly helpful!
