Amazon.com Review A comprehensive volume filled with history, theory, equipment selection, lesson plans, and drills, The PGA Manual of Golf is, in essence, a more public, and abridged, version of the textbook the PGA uses to instruct its teaching pros. At times complex and often dry, the book is perhaps the most detailed of all the instructionals. Although it will surely help players at every level, the more advanced your game, the more you are likely to get from it.

Good Primer For The Beginner November 16, 2007 My wife gave this book to me as a gift. That was 15 years ago and I am currently playing to 5 handicap at 51 years of age. I did not however, get to that handicap number by using this PGA Manual alone. I have a teaching pro that I call on once or twice a year.
The PGA Manual fills in nicely between those lessons. The appendix contains a model swing segment and sequential swing images of the game's immortals, which are incalculable tools for re-tuning your game.
The PGA Manual of Golf is the definitive guide for any golfer who strives to play better than average. Dr. Gary Wiren tirelessly explains how a tour player thinks, practices, eats, sleeps, exercises, manages the course, handles failure or success, handles him or herself in general on or off the course, and asserts themselves while playing the greatest game on the planet. He additionally offers the reader a tour player's perspective regarding a training schedule and drills for game improvement.
Like any discipline in life you reap what you sow. Buy the book and use it faithfully.
