Product Description
Yippie-ki-yay! Blast into non-stop action as feature film and game hero John McClane, who once again finds the chips stacked against him as he faces a new legion of hi-tech terrorists in a race against time. The bright lights and vast landscape of Las Vegas provide the backdrop for an all-new story line that incorporates the three white-knuckle game styles of the original best-selling Die Hard Trilogy. Try to beat the odds as you match wits with the meanest, smartest villains in the most explosive adventure John McClane has ever faced. The payoff is the hottest action in town!

Amazon.com Review
The Die Hard movie trilogy offers viewers plenty of action, thrills, and witty one-liners; unfortunately, Fox Interactive's computer game sequel, Die Hard Trilogy 2: Viva Las Vegas, lacks the excitement of its movie inspiration. At least the plot is consistent with the movies: NYPD Detective John McClane has once again stumbled into the wrong place at the wrong time. First it was a corporate office building at Christmas. Then it was a terrorist-packed airport. Now it's a prison riot.

Die Hard Trilogy 2 features three different game modes with some occasional moments of enthralling gameplay--though none of the modes stands out as a shining example of its genre. In the third-person action-adventure mode, players control John McClane through dark, tight corridors as he battles aggressive bad guys with an assortment of weaponry, including pistols, shotguns, rifles, rocket launchers, and grenades. The sharpshooting mode emulates the gunplay found in arcade games such as Time Crisis and Virtua Cop: players glide crosshairs around the screen and blow apart enemies, tables, and walls. Finally, Die Hard Trilogy 2's extreme driving game puts McClane behind the wheel on the Las Vegas strip.

Die Hard Trilogy 2's diverse game modes ensure there's something for nearly every action gamer. But the fun can't match recent PC action titles, and the game doesn't approach the excitement of the movies. Still, if you're looking for an action title with a decidedly arcade game feel (not too complex, with simple gameplay), then check out John McClane's latest heroic adventure. --Doug Radcliffe

Pros:

  • Diverse game styles keep the action interesting
  • Based on the highly popular Die Hard movies starring Bruce Willis
  • Movie mode blends story line and cut scenes with driving and shooting action
Cons:
  • Doesn't excel in any one game mode
  • Visuals not up to par

2 out of 5 stars You can play this until you get frustrated...   April 27, 2002

I loved the Die Hard movies so I bought this one. I have constant problems with the game on Windows XP, can't save a game, so I have to start over whenever I get killed, the sound is all screwed up and although I enjoyed the game in spots, I angrily quit several times because of the NO SAVE problem. I had the same problem with Windows 98 SE so I don't know if its the game or the computer. It'll be nice when they work out the kinks and finally make a game with good controls and "Save"... I still play it once in awhile because it has it's good side - so long as you don't get killed...

Ok, die hard1,2, and 3 were cool movies. John never went to las vegas in the whole trilogy, though, so I don't know where the heck the got the idea from for him to go there. But this is a game not to be questioned. Its graphics are now, well let's say, could be better. But the puzzles are superior, and there's still the essence of the classic "run around and shoot everything" genre, and this is possible with a handgun with unlimited ammo. And three modes of game play, driving, pure shoot em' up, and adventure mode. A game that will rock you world.(also, this game allows you to take out frustations, you see, the damage counter is very very slow.)

4 out of 5 stars This Game Kicks A Lot!   June 16, 2000

This game is pretty amazing and the price is great. The original was good but the second improved where the first lacked. There are 3 styles of the game. They are 3rd person shooter, 1st person shooting practice (like Area 51) and Driving, all with excellent graphics. McClane has some good lines which can get repetetive, but not too bad, and there are fun items to get like a can of Whoopass. The control scheme isn't too hard, you can master it in a few minutes for each play style. 1st person is my favorite because I love games like Area 51 so much, and there are some amazing places you can visit. It is very arcade-like, which is what makes it so entertaining. 3rd person shooter is fun because it is like Tomb Raider, but with easier controls, no puzzles, and better guns. It is fun also. Driving isn't racing, it is trying to blow up cars, bombs, and race around the city while trying not to blow your jeep up or run out of time. It is fun but can be a little tricky at times. The game doesn't provide for countless hours of gameplay, but it has great replayability so that you can beat it over and over again, with friends or by yourself and not get tired of it. Any pc gamer needs this game in their collection, I promise you that. Buy it today!
