3 out of 5 stars Can't get the full swing   August 24, 2006

Fundamentally, the concept and mechanics of this game are great. However, due to the short plastic club that is provided, you cannot duplicate your real golf swing. So, the true value of it helping your "real" golf game kind of goes by the wayside. Being able to swing- and have it motion-captured- is cool because you really do control the action.

3 out of 5 stars i'm a golfer, and this game has problems...   June 25, 2006

This review is more for the interested ACTUAL golfer. I love this idea for games. I'm excited about Nintendo's wii, but this particular simulation device just isn't working for me. First of all, when you swing the plastic club, it has a very different feel than a real club. I believe that they calibrated the device for when you swing a real club, because I tried it with one. With a real club it was accurately simulating my swing power. With the plastic club, there is a very fine line between 110% and 70%. However, with the plastic club I find that it is not accurate how it recognizes different club lengths and how you swing them, so it's hard to figure out why it is topping the ball, slicing, or hooking. With a real club, for some reason, it hooks like crazy. I know my swing, and I know it's not hooking, especially since I slice the ball more way more than hook it. I wish they had built in a customized calibration setting in the game. The device makes sense, I just think that they hurried the game design itself. For the non-golfer, this might not be a bad game as you can sort of adjust your swing according to the way the device is callibrated and it wouldn't be awkward. Not so for the golfer.

They did a good job with this game. I am actually using it as another form of practice for the golf league that I am in.

5 out of 5 stars The Best Game Of All Time   April 23, 2006

I love this game! I wish I could play it everyday! It is one of the best virtual reality games I have ever played! It doesn't have the best graphics but the game play is wonderful! I would suggest it to anyone of any age! It is the best and only virtual golf game out on the market for xbox.

2 out of 5 stars Good idea but needs work.   April 17, 2006

If you're golf video game fan do not buy this game! Your expectations will be too high and you'll be disappointed in the first 10 minutes!

First off, the graphics are horrible. When you look at the fairways they look like a 2-year old smeared brown and green paint together.

Second, the motion track system is not nearly as accurate as made out to be. In a few minutes I was able to hit 'perfect' shots on the Pro difficulty. Also, if you miss hit theres really only 3 misses....short, hook, or slice. The degree of hook and slice does not seem to vary and its the same everytime you hook or slice the ball. Also, its hard to control distances with your clubs. In Tiger Woods, you can stick a 4-iron on a dime from 225 out if you need too. Yeah that doesnt happen everyday in the real world but I was expecting to be able to play to certain parts of the greens instead of praying the by choosing less club and allowing the ball to run up to the green that hopefully, with some miracle, I would end up pin high.

Third, the concept is great. However, using the system feels clunky and difficult. The little club you hold is annoying, I found it easier to make good contact by simply placing my palms together like I was praying, didn't even use the club.

Oh yeah, and the courses themselves are weird. Yeah I can understand they aren't licenses courses and everything but still, give us some variation and actually study some real courses to see what one is setup like. If you're gonna put a pond 225 out from the tee at least give us a club that can consistently carry that number.

This game was definitely a let down for me. I was following its release heavily, reading reviews from over seas from the previous release and everything sounded great, but once I got it..boy I was dissapointed. So I sold it on a 'leading auction site' the same day and had it shipped out the next day.
