Great jacket - I would buy it again - wish it had an inside pocket September 2, 2008 The jacket performed well in the rain and wind of Alaska on the cruise and while in town. If it had an inside pocket for cell phone, etc. it would be even better. The outside pockets did keep the items inside dry so not that big of a deal.
Great Product August 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My Full Monty rain coat is light weight, wind proof and water repellent. I couldn't ask for anything more. A very wise investment in trying to stay dry and warm.
Waterproof but HOT! July 8, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this jacket to keep dry when it's raining during my daily walks for exercise. It's advertised to breathe, letting air pass in but not moisture. Well, I get rather heated when walking quickly for a long period, and this jacket is like a green house, heating up inside and causing quite a bit of perspiration.
It does keep the rain out, however, and if you are not wearing this jacket for exercise, then it's a good product.
Excellent Rainwear May 14, 2008 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This jacket is waterproof, light and well made. It has nylon lining with soft shell.
The size of Full Monty runs big. Its S is equivalent to Marmot Oracle's M.
The only complaint I have on this jacket is its length. It's about 1.5" - 2" shorter than Oracle. It puts the back of waist area in risk when you bike in heavy rain. I still give it a 5-star because its price versus performance deserves a perfect 10.
I also purchased another set of Marmot Oracle Jacket/ PreCip Full Zip Pant (was named the best 3-season rainwear by backpacker magazine) for my son who bike-commutes in his college campus. For people who are interested in Marmot rainwear, here are the comparisons.
Jacket *Both jackets are well made with good quality WATERPROOF & BREATHABLE material. *Full Monty Jacket is lined, Oracle is unlined. *Full Monty Jacket's shell is softer than Oracle's. It's more like thicker and denser windbreaker. Oracle has some degree of plastic feel. *Oracle is more breathable than Full Monty, it's better for the summer. On the other hand, Full Monty is better for California's winter. *Style: Full Monty is funny looking and plain. You probably wear it only on raining days. Oracle can be worn on any occasion. *Price: $35 for Full Monty, $100 for Oracle ($100 - on sale for blue color only. $160 otherwise).
Pant *Marmot Full Zip PreCip is Full-zip (with full-length zippers) *Full Monty is Partial-zip (with 15" zippered ankle gusset) *Price: $20 for Full Monty, $89 for PreCip
Excellent jacket except for one glaring omission. May 4, 2007 14 out of 16 found this review helpful
I really like this jacket. It is well designed and completely waterproof. There are flaps and velcro strips everywhere. However, there are only 2 pockets in the entire jacket! A third pocket is definitely needed for an iPod, cell phone, etc. I looked and looked behind all those flaps, but no third pocket! I deducted one star for this missing third pocket. The care instructions make for interesting reading: 1. Wash with cold water. 2. DO NOT USE FABRIC SOFTNER. 3. DO NOT TUMBLE DRY. 4. DO NOT IRON. 5. DO NOT DRY CLEAN. I was standing in front of the washing machine scratching my head - OK, so what can I do? The jacket was made in VietNam.
