2 out of 5 stars Ugly jacket - no wonder they don't show the front   December 15, 2008
It really would've helped if they had a photo of the front of this jacket. If I had known what it truely looked like, I would've saved my money. The back does look very good but the buttons on the front make this jacket look like it should be on an old women. Very disappointing. I read the reviews prior to purchasing this jacket but did not realize how ugly it really looked. I'm not sure that changing the buttons on this jacket will make it look any better.

4 out of 5 stars Recessionista's delight, with a couple of upgrades   November 4, 2008

I bought this jacket to wear to my husband's company's annual holiday dinner, which consists of 25 or so very nice people getting together for a gourmet dinner in one of the loveliest and draftiest old mansions in New England. To wear one of the sleeveless dresses which seem to be about all you can buy in the way of a dress this season is just not an option, unless you want to shiver all evening, so this pretty jacket caught my eye. I was pretty surprised when it arrived and I opened the package. (It's going to have to be professionally pressed -- it comes quite wrinkled.) It fits beautifully, and the color is just out of this world. The cotton velveteen fabric is very nice quality, but the "ribbon" trim is not ribbon at all but dyed-to-match twill tape. I will probably change the ribbon ties at the back to teal silk ribbon. I plan to wear the jacket to this event with a cream silk blouse with ruffled lace cuffs, and a black pencil skirt (all found here on amazon.com.)

The twill tape on the jacket bothered me at first, but it is starting to grow on me. This jacket would be beautiful with a less formal look, too, and I don't want to make it too dressy, so I'm not going to replace all the twill tape with silk ribbon. However, the buttons on this otherwise good quality jacket are chunky plastic half-ball buttons, and there are a lot of 'em. They are sort of a brass metal-colored plastic, and make the jacket look cheap. Which of course it was, which is why I was able to buy it in the first place, things being what they are with the economy and all, but I plan to replace all 20 of them with etched and antiqued silver buttons I'm going to make myself to match the jewelry I'll be wearing with it. I wouldn't invest the time or expense in upgrading this jacket if it weren't such a beautiful color and good fit, but I think it's going to be totally worth it!

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Jacket   September 5, 2008

Loved this jacket, fits perfectly and looks great with jeans or smart pants. An absolute bargain too. I hope they will design this jacket in other colours too.

5 out of 5 stars The front is also excellent.   May 31, 2008

I don't know why there's no photo of the front of the jacket, but it is also excellent. It buttons down the center with brassy buttons matching those on the sleeves, and striking slanted button holes. On each side of the front it has three rows of horizontal trim above the pocket flaps, made out of thin cord-like flat sections of matching fabric, similar to military piping. The pockets aren't real, they're just flaps, but the decoration on the front is excellent and does complete the military look.
