5 out of 5 stars My go to ball   December 1, 2008
This is my stike ball and it hits hard. It gets its job done well. Today with the black widow pearl I got thirteen strikes in a row over two games. Then i got twelve strikes in a row, eleven in one game giving me a 290. This ball is good and is consistant I would recommend it to others. The only down side is that my ball has gotten multiple chips in it but they don't effect the effectiveness of the ball.

5 out of 5 stars Just an outstanding addition to the Hammer line!   November 22, 2008
It's been a while since I bought a Hammer product having leaned toward the Storm line of balls. But I was looking for something that ran long then had a hard snap at the backend. It eventually came down to a choice of the Storm Special Agent and this ball. I chose the Black Widow Pearl and have been glad I did. I have never had a ball be so versatile and yet attack the pocket as aggressively as the Pearl. I can throw this on almost any condition, with the exception of dry lanes where it just gets over aggressive.

For comparison purposes, I'm a "down-&-in" type of bowler as opposed to a "cranker." When I purchased this in the summer of 2007 I carried between a 198-202 average. Since purchasing the Black Widow Pearl my league averages have been 209, 214, and currently 212.

A couple of things I noted about the ball. I found that for me it's best to keep the loft to a minimum, let the ball do the work as early as possible especially on oily conditions. Also, I need to watch my speed. The ball works best for me at around 15-16 MPH. If I start throwing harder than that it doesn't quite finish into the pocket, causing a lot of ten pin leaves. As long as I keep the speed right the ball just explodes into the pins!

Overall I would have to rate the Black Widow Pearl as one of my favorites. A great value that provides versatility on many lane conditions. Highly recommended

5 out of 5 stars Performs to spec - 14 pounds and above   October 24, 2008
Great ball, and does exactly what it is designed to do. Be aware that the 12 pound ball is a little different and not as aggressive, however. My wife has been a little disappointed in the break she has been getting.

5 out of 5 stars Versatile Ball...   September 25, 2008

This is a very versatile bowling ball. I originally bought this ball for use on a little bit drier lanes and I was actually a little concerned the first time I used it because it had a little more backend than I expected. But, after a game I realized that this ball was right for me. I didn't want to carry a pro shop worth of bowling balls with me to the league, and this ball is strong on just about every condition I've come across with only slight adjustments. The best was when several other better bowlers were struggling with the lane conditions one night and this ball was just locking into the pocket for me. I loved the frustrated looks I got that night. I've increased my avg by over 10 pins with the help of this ball's versatility.

Is it perfect on every condition?... no. But if I only had one ball and didn't know what the lanes were like, I'd take this one. It gives me good movement in oil and when the lanes are a little dry or breaking down. And of course, it hits like a hammer. I started out bowling with a BVP Nemesis and loved the hitting power that ball had... this one is the only ball I've used since that beat it's power. Bottom line: it's just my type of ball... Versatile and nasty on contact.

4 out of 5 stars This Ball Has Bite....   June 4, 2008

I have recently become hooked on bowling and with all the different products out there it can become quite confusing, so of course you need to know what is the best out there. The Black Widow Pearl by Hammer is one of the best balls you can buy. I am still in the process of getting my hook down and this ball just crushes the pins, even if you throw it off. I highly recommend the Black Widow Pearl for both beginners and professionals....
