Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
RipStik Mini DLX is the ultimate sidewalk "carving" machine - a sensational two-wheel caster board like nothing you've ever ridden on dry land. Unlike old-fashioned four-wheel skateboards, the innovative RipStik gives you an exciting ride on two caster wheels attached to two concave decks that flex independently around a central aluminum torsion bar. Your twist-and-pivot "carving" motion provides all the acceleration and momentum - there's no pushing needed.even to cruise straight uphill! A quick weight-shift is all it takes to execute 360 turns on a dime.

5 out of 5 stars Great for 8   September 12, 2008
Our son just turned 8. Thought the original ripstik would be too much for him so ordered this one, which is a little shorter. It is perfect and he loves it.

5 out of 5 stars Great fun and exercise !   July 17, 2008

Received this RipsStik DLX after a lot of reading and research. The size is right for me, a small adult, easy to ride and carry, not too long or big. After an hour, could go on my own. A day or 2 later, already cruising the parking lot (flat). Still struggle to go up hill but I am trying. Really glad I picked it over the other long boards. Quality product. Highly recommended for fun, stress release and exercise in that order ;-)

Tips: watch the video on youtube or at Ripstik site for starting out - it is better than the DVD enclosed. Also, first practice leaning on the shoulder of a friend. Once you are on, you can learn to balance better. Also speed is key, the board has to be moving for you to balance, push and jump to get on with some speed - don't just stand on it, wiggle your hip and expect it to move. You would fall b4 that.
Scan the area you are skating for small rocks, gravels ... before you skate.
Watch your speed when you are a beginner, and if you feel it is going too fast, simply step off to stop. For stopping, it is much safer than roller blading down the hill that way -- but still, wear your helmet and wristguards.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing   July 16, 2008

I bought the DLX version for my 11y old son thinking it would be a step up from the basic version everyone else seems to have. Instead it seems harder to use (although more maneuverable) which frustrated my son to no end. He has used it a handful of times and not in months. Sometimes simpler is better!
